Nickelbacks: story

The band was formed in the early 1990s as a cover band called the "Village Idiots" by Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and Brandon Kroeger. The band performed covers of songs from Led Zeppelin and Metallica. Nickelback's first release was a seven-track EP called Hesher in 1996.

The band later changed its name to Nickelback, which originated from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his job at Starbucks; he would frequently say, "Here's your nickel back." The band performed covers of songs from Led Zeppelin and Metallica.

Hate to Love: Nickelback is a 2023 documentary film directed by Leigh Brooks. The film profiles the Canadian rock band Nickelback, centering on their evolution from one of the most commercially successful rock bands in the world in the 2000s, to one of the most culturally reviled rock bands in the world in the 2010s.

A Texas court's ruling that "Rockstar" isn't strikingly similar to the band Snowblind Revival'ssong "Rock Star" and band member Kirk Johnston failed to show Nickelback had ever heard his song was affirmed by the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in February.

Considered to be Nickelback's signature song, "How You Remind Me" reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 and was named the number-one most played song on US radio of the 2000s decade by Nielsen Soundscan, being spun over 1.2 million times on US airwaves since its release in 2001 to the end of 2009.
